Happy Holidays. Sorry about the lack of updates in forever! I've been so busy with work, then with the shop, and my personal life that I hardly have time to write or update the blog. I cannot believe how little I have written since I graduated about a year ago. I will be even busier now due to finding a second job at Davids Bridal. So I guess technically I have three jobs. Pier 1 Imports, my jewelry business and now Davis Bridal. Well onto about my business which is mainly what this blog is about. I have started a line of Steampunk ornaments. So far they have done fairly well and have even been featured on another site. So I wanted to share them with everyone.
Here is the link to the ornaments if you get the time to check them out. http://www.etsy.com/shop/AmberIlysSteamcrafts?section_id=12462226. Also don't forget, Amber Ily's Steamcrafts is participating in Black Friday/Cyber Monday

Scars
I just finished watching Randy to the Rescue on TLC. I can't help but be annoyed at people who get all upset about their scars. Granted in the episode the women that I'm referring to was beautiful and such a nice girl. It was just hard to relate. I understand it sucks, especially on your wedding day, but deal with it. Be proud of your scars and the story it tells! I have tons of scars. They tell a story about my life and the struggles that I've gone through. My scars are apart of me.
For those who don't know me or my story, I've had two open heart surgeries and four other heart surgeries. I've always had a scar, since I was three days old. I've never once been insecure or have hid my scar. In 2004, I had another open-heart surgery that left me with a shiny new lengthy scar. But, I loved it. I embraced it. I think everyone who has scars should show them, embrace them especially on your wedding day.

Poetry submissions and Jobs
I got a hair up my ass today and decided I really needed to submit some poetry to different journals. So far I've successfully submitted to one place now I'm just trying to find some other journals and publications. Just trying to make a name for myself and push myself towards my dream. Though I never thought it was so hard to write a short bio about yourself. I know myself I know where my writing comes from but I don't want to sound stupid or like I'm full of myself.
Anyway, lately I've been focusing on trying to find a good career path. I'm thinking teaching but I want to substitute first. I've taken the cbest for substitute teaching and didn't pass the math so now in the mean time, I'm trying to study and look for other jobs. Just need to get out of my minimum paying job. I have a bachelors degree for Christ sake.

fifty shades of grey
I'm currently reading the popular series Fifty Shades of Grey. My thoughts so far. I would love to have an amazing female protagonist eventually in some sort of book. The constant strewn of book about women fawning over men is starting to get old. The only time I can root for Anastasia so far is when she's emailing him and putting him in his place but then the second the emails end it goes back to her being pathetic and hoping what she said didn't just piss him off. I mean don't get me wrong. I've been there, when I've fawned over a guy and acted and said stupid things but maybe I just want more of a personality instead of a women defining herself by the man she is with.
I want more! My boyfriend says I need to write my own book with a strong female lead. Maybe I will. But for the time being I'm going to try and get through the series and figure out what all the fuss is about. I just hope it's not popular because of just the sex scenes cause I might as well just watch porn.
Sorry that was harsh and probably something you didn't want to know.

The Watchmaker
Mr. Cog was a watchmaker. He made the most beautiful watches in the land. He came across a women one day who wore the most beautiful wristwatch he had every seen. He soon fell in love with the women and every day he would ask her, "Who made such a beautiful watch? You must tell me."
She would only reply in return, "It is a gift from God, my love."
They married and grew old together all the while Mr. Cog tried to replicate his wife's beautiful watch.
On her deathbed she called for Mr. Cog to take off her watch and so she could show him the secrets to the watch. He wouldn't hear a word of it, "I would rather spend this time with you then learn about a watch. It's only a watch."
"Look into the face of the watch." And with her dying breath, the watch opened and a small light came out and floated above them. All that was left of the watch was the bits, pieces and parts but the watch had lost its soul. With that Mr. Cog understood he would never be able to replicate his wife or the soul she carried with her.

Doily Necklace - Steampunk Jewelry
This piece is made from a beautiful vintage doily. I folded the doily and put a chain on it to wear the piece as a necklace/bib. A strand of imitation pearls follow the width of the necklace. On the doily is a button from a French organ which says in French "Octave Celeste," which is a "term that some builders used for the 4' Viol Celeste or similar string.” However, Celeste means Heavenly in French. Hanging from the doily bib is a glass vial with watch parts.
This necklace is perfect for any occasion and is elegant to be worn for Weddings or Proms. Beautiful one of a kind piece.
Piece measures in width approximately 18in and 7 1/2in in length
Each piece is one of a kind, so don't miss out.
Feel free to ask any questions, I'm always happy to answer them

Saw Titanic Yesterday
Omg I forgot how much I loved Titanic. It was so amazing in 3D. I though it was weird being in a theater with teenagers who a) have never seen the movie or b) Weren’t alive when the movie came out… I feel old…it was hilarious though and disturbing that both my boyfriend and I noticed that in the scene when Jack is drawing Rose that in one scene Roses nipple is soft and then next it is hard… haha my guess is she was getting turned on by Leonardo DiCaprio’s hottness. I know I would...
not that you wanted to know any of that non sense
